The Rules module is used to configure automated actions on your website, such as sending out e-mails, updating nodes or displaying messages to users. The actions could either be triggered by selected events on your site, or called by other tools and modules. One of the powers with Rules is the flexible ways of evaluating conditions before any actions are executed.
In this session the basic Rules concepts will be introduced, such as events/reactions, conditions, actions, data types, data input methods, lists and creating loops. I will also show how it is possible to re-use configurations using Components.
Some practical use-cases will also be shown, f.x.:
- assign all new users a selected role;
- set entity field value based on certain condition.
- send html e-mail reminders to users on certain events.
If we have time, we will also look shortly at Rules Scheduler and how Rules and VBO can be used together.
Those who attend this session, need to have basic knowledge of content types and how Drupal works.

Very helpful
Having seen how rules should work, what they can do and how they can be defined on drupal 7 basis, it was really easy even on drupal 6.
Actually, they work basically the same, only on 6 with a site builder's interface that is not exactly intuitive. After the talk, I knew what to look for, et voila! I just did the two rules I've always wished for.
Thanks a lot.
